Starbucks History
Starbucks is a well-known coffee chain with its origins within Seattle, Washington. The business was the idea by Jerry B. Gordon Bowker and Siegl Zev. Their aim was to establish an organization that focused on coffee and an exclusive method that roasts coffee beans.
The company adopted the name Starbucks in reference to one of the characters in the acclaimed novel Moby Dick. Their initial logo wasn't the mermaid that is green as it is now, but instead, a brown one, and their goal was to provide freshly-baked coffee beans.
All of the founders were close acquaintances who were students at San Francisco University and they created the concept for their new coffee brand from the mythology of nautical ships.
Initially, they were planning to choose names like Pequod but ultimately chose Starbucks as an alternative. In the early 1990s, Starbucks was already introducing espresso machines to the American public, after observing their success on Italian markets.
In the late decade of the 1990s, Starbucks began to introduce new modifications to their operations, including opening its first drive-thru store and then expanding the options for drinks that weren't available before.
The business soon expanded to include over 1,000 locations across the United States. In addition, it was at this time that Starbucks' site, Starbucks.com, was formed.
It was in 1999 that Starbucks acquired a tiny tea business called Tazo that has since grown into an extremely successful tea producer.
Following their initial IPO in the public stock market in the early 1990s Starbucks began a huge expansion plan that included two new locations per day through 2007.
Today, Starbucks is one of the most successful coffee businesses around the globe with over 24,000 locations located across 70 countries and expanding at a fast rate.
It's a popular saying that nearly every street across the United States today has a Starbucks on it. The company's coffee has turned into an institution where everyone goes to get together, not just for coffee but also to have a good time socializing.
Summary
I would say that most people, including myself, will be more interested in the drinks available at Starbucks instead of the food items. Fortunately, they offer a wide selection of gluten-free beverages! We would like to see more information on their menu as it was difficult to find information about allergens on one site however, Starbucks is a great spot to visit if you're seeking a gluten-free drink.
