Cracker Barrel's first store was opened in Lebanon (Tennessee) and the founder tried to make it as Southern as possible. He used only Southern cuisines such as biscuits, country-ham, and grits. Cracker Barrel was a hit with more highway travelers.
Evins opened more gas stations near their stores. The brand opened more restaurants in areas without gas stations during the 1970s gas shortages. Instead, it focused on restaurant and gift sales. Evins wanted to grow the brand across the U.S. quickly, so he decided in 1981 to make the company public to raise capital for expansion. The company was valued at over a billion dollars by the end of 1992.
Cracker Barrel's success is due to its ability to constantly evolve its menu and expand into new markets. Cracker Barrel has never lost sight of its roots, which are the southern-inspired atmosphere and delicious food served in its restaurants.

What Are My Honest Opinions About Cracker Barrel?
Cracker Barrel has been a well-known restaurant in the United States since 1969. So I was excited to visit Cracker Barrel's Illinois store. Their store had a Southern vibe that I loved at first glance.
Cracker Barrel's first attraction was the wooden rocking chair with a stone fireplace in the front.
It felt like I was in the heart of Southern culture. There was also a lot of cool, vintage American history stuff in the stores. I then looked at the menu. The first thing that caught my attention was Cracker Barrel's breakfast service, which to me is amazing.
I ordered a Grandma's Holiday Sampler, which included two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs, and a thick slice each of bacon, country ham, and smoked sausage. It was accompanied by hash brown casserole, pure maple syrup, and two slices of bacon. Sounds delicious, right!
After that, I tried their fresh brewed sweet iced coffee. Their staff wasn't very friendly, which I noticed. They were not rude, but I didn't find them super friendly.
After waiting for over 20 minutes, I finally got my order. The food was delicious. Everything was good except for the eggs. The pancakes were perfect. Two eggs looked like one, and the pancakes were not as warm as other foods. Their sweet iced tea was refreshing, but it wasn't very healthy. It had 34 grams of sugar. It is worth trying, even if you forget about that.
Cracker Barrel's overall experience was good. Although the food was excellent, I wasn't able to experience enough to make me return to Cracker Barrel in the future. This is a wonderful spot to visit for a single time, but it's worth returning multiple times depending on how much you enjoyed your experience.
